Book: Angel's Intuition Author: Liz Borino Genre: Romance, War Published By: Ninestar Press Published Year: 2018 My Review: Having received a copy of Angel's Intuition in return for an honest review from Netgalley I was excited to see what this book was going to turn out. With war books not being my usual style of book I was apprehensive before reading this however with liking romance books I felt this was going to be a very hit or miss book for me. Luckily, this book surprised me and was more enjoyable than I was expecting. The book is told from two people's perspective and the couple of the story, Jordan and Aaron. When Jordan goes to do his final deployment in Afghanistan and goes missing the army think of him dead and don't go looking for him. I thought that the cinematography in this movie was brilliant and really brought me into the film and continuously think that the cameraman done an amazing job at creating an atmosphere in which was dangerous but also showed so much love within the clan and the beauty in the land in which they were living. I did think also that by showing how the Chri...

Blood Demons - Richard Jeffries (book review)

Book: Blood Demons Author: Richard Jeffries Genre: Horror Published By: Kensington Books Published Year: 2018 My Review: Slowly lowering the books in which are on my Netgalley account I decided to read one that has been there for a while which is Blood Demons by Richard Jeffries which I thought looked really interesting and as I rarely read horror books thought it would make a good change for me. Blood Demons is about a bombing which happens at Mount Rushmore and there is no blood found at the scene a specialized department called Cerberus is called in to try and find out what happened and leads to the finding of the beginning of the legend which is vampires. Not only this they feel that they are ready to dominate the world. I thought that this book had a really good idea behind it and I really liked how it had a team that just deals with supernatural types of crimes just to make sure people had safety. Not only this but by having the book about the history of vampires I ...

Film: Midnight Sun Year: 2018 Genre: Drama, Romance Directed By: Scott Speer Starring: Bella Thorne, Patrick Schwartzenegger, Paul Riggle About:  A 17-year-old girl suffers from a condition that prevents her from being out in the sunlight Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEskVQgtwaI My Review:  Having recently seen that this is on my recommended for me on Netflix and knew I had to watch it just from the over photo. Loving a good romance movie I couldn't resist starting the year with this. Midnight Sun really surprised me with how much  I ended up enjoying it and it even made me cry which is rare for a romance movie to do but really showed just how much it brought me into their world. I thought that Midnight Sun was very original in the story with it being a girl who can't go into the sunlight or there is a chance she will die and how she can only go out at night making her life a lot more sheltered than anyone else and how she can't experience l...

With a cast of voice actors in which I already liked I hoped that this would be something I would enjoy and I am glad I was not mistaken as the movie ended up being rather cute and something I enjoyed more than I expected. I thought by showing how Santa's reindeer was able to retire and have other reindeer take their place was rather a good concept ...

Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8lDreq9le4 My Review: Wanting to watch a rom-com and having this on my Watch List on Netflix I couldn't resist but give this film a chance and see what I thought. Having liked Emma Roberts in everything I had seen her in previously as well I was excited to see if this was another film of hers in which I would enjoy. This film surprised me however I ended up enjoying this more than I expected. I liked that this film had a Romeo and Juliet vibe with the families not liking each other however the children both being in love with each other and feeling that their families were the reason in which they couldn't be together. I also thought it was clever having the gr...

Adoring the first film and having watched it a few days prior I was excited to see what happens in the second movie and if it would live up to first movie. I love that  Ralph Breaks The Internet continues on from the first movie really well and tells us that it has been six years that the main characters have been friends for and how Vanellope is starting to get bored of her game and wants more excitement in her life. By also showing how Wi-fi became a part of t...

Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIxnTi4GmCo My Review: Having never seen this movie before and never having heard anything about it I was so happy to go into this movie completely blind. This is a movie which actually made me cry and I was so happy that it did as it showed just how good this movie was. This film starts with showing how the main character is hunting then gets thrown off of a cliff making the audience unsure if he lives or not. Showing afterwards a week before that to give the film more context I thought was a really nice touch and left me wanting to know more about ...

This movie grabbed my attention again and I couldn't wait to watch it and cast my own views on a movie which I heard no negative feedback upon. Personally, I really enjoyed how the film showed how after the Venom was discovered how scientists experimented on it to see how it took over bodies for hosts and why they did this. Not only this but even taking it into animals before human testing, this was something in which ...

Emily Windsnap and the falls of Forgotten Island - Liz Kessler (book review)

Book: Emily Windsnap and the Falls of Forgotten Island Author: Liz Kessler Genre: Fantasy, Children's, Adventure Published By: Candlewick Press Published Year: 2018 My Review: Having received a copy of this from Netgalley a while ago however never having gotten around to reading it I was glad to have found the time as I finished this within a few days and couldn't stop reading it once I started. Emily Windsnap and the Falls of Forgotten Island is about a girl who goes on vacation with her family and when there discovers there is a land behind the waterfall. Upon realising this Emily is told of a prophecy which foretells an earthquake which will destroy the island unless Emily is able to save the day. I found that this book was a really easy read and one that brought me into it really quickly. I thought that the adventure was well written and was good as a stand alone book as this is the seventh book in the series. Showing how the family is half mermaid and half hu...

Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQeOzfm-lps My Review: Having been a fan of Goosebumps since I was a child and still being a fan I couldn't wait to see the second movie and to see if they did it as well as the first movie. Although this was more different than I expected it to be I was glad that this stayed to the Goosebumps feel and made me enjoy it more than I expected. This film had good humour within it and still kept it really creepy with having Slappy as the main villain in the movie as well as showing just how powerful he really is. I thought by also making Slappy really want to be part of the family until you make him mad stayed true to the books in which he is the same. Having this made m...

This is a movie in which really surprised me as it was different from how I had expected however made me enjoy it in a way I didn't expect. I found that this film was funny and made me laugh as well had elements of horror which made this a perfect children's horror to me and one that I would be able to watch when looking for something not very scary. I also thought that this film reminded me of some of my other childhood favourite horror films such as The Haunted Mansion with the way...

I was really happy with this movie and it had me near tears as well as smiling and overall feel really good inside which is something I love that the Pokemon series is able to do. I personally liked how this film showed different types of people from someone who has lost all confidence in themselves but wants to help their brother, someone who seems to have social anxiety, someone who only wants to do right by the...

DeKnight Starring: John Boyega, Scott Eastwood, Cailee Spaeny About:  Jake Pentecost, son of Stacker Pentecost, reunites with Mako Mori to lead a new generation of Jaeger pilots, including rival Lambert and 15-year-old hacker Amara, against a new Kaiju threat. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8BAhwgjMvnM My Review: Having seen and enjoyed the first Pacific Rim movie I thought I would give the second one a watch for the first time. I thought that it was good how they showed that a teenager was able to build a Jaeger by herself just by being a junker and one that works really well. By doing this even though she was so young it helped to highlight how talented she was and that she was a good pilot for them as well. I did think the small one in which she made was also pretty cool with what it was able to operate. Showing how Jake also didn't want to be a Jaeger pil...

Film: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Year: 2018 Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi Directed By: J.A. Bayona Starring: Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Rafe Spall About:  When the island's dormant volcano begins roaring to life, Owen and Claire mount a campaign to rescue the remaining dinosaurs from this extinction-level event. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn9mMeWcgoM My Review: Having not seen the second in the Jurassic World series, I thought this would be a perfect time for me to give it a watch especially after really enjoying the first one. I thought that this movie was really good and I liked how it was set years after the destruction of the park in the first movie. By doing this it kept the timeline on track but also made the audience care more for the dinosaurs and the danger in which they are in due to already being introduced in the previous movie, especially Blue! By having people come and abduct Blue in order to use her to create a weapon f...

Film: Set It Up Year: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Romance, Rom-Com Directed By: Claire Scanlon Starring: Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Lucy Liu About:  Two corporate executive assistants hatch a plan to match-make their two bosses. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-eRc9PF3TU My Review: Feeling like something that would be very easy watching and more of a romance movie I was happy when Set It Up appeared on my Netflix and thought that this would be perfect. This really happily surprised me and I am so happy this is the movie I chose. I thought by having the two assistants both overworked and realising something had to be done in order to try and give them some time to have some social life was something that really helped to show how the two people needed a break and so teamed up together for their bosses. By keeping this only between them and setting up situations to bring the bosses together such as; getting stuck in an elevator together and kiss cam at a baseball...

Life Begins for Brody Haller - Bob G. Miller (book review) *contains spoilers*

Book: Life Begins for Brody Haller Author: Bob G. Miller Genre: Drama,   Fiction Published By: n/a Published Year: 2018 My Review: Having been given a copy of this by the author in return for an honest review, I thought I would start the new year with it and give my honest opinions on this book and what I liked and didn't like about this. Life Begins for Brody Haller is about a man who decides to meet his grandpa in France and after having been kidnapped with a woman called Zoe learns to love and live his life differently than ever before. I thought that this book was easy to read and kept me captivated all of the way through it By having the start of the novel having Brody going to France and seeing how he is in his normal life was good for the reader as it helped them to understand his character and how he changes throughout to become more carefree and try new things. By also showing Zoe's past by having her work with drugs and then leave the business before meet...

Film: Swimming With Men Year: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance Directed By: Oliver Parker Starring: Rob Brydon, Rupert Graves, Thomas Turgoose About:  A man who is suffering a mid-life crisis finds new meaning in his life as part of an all-male, middle-aged, amateur synchronised swimming team. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f495YKIfuaw My Review: Noticing this on Netflix and it looking like something I would not usually choose for myself I thought I would go a little outwith my usual style and see Swimming With Men . As much as I did give this a try I thought that this didn't really come through to me the way that it was meant to. This movie I thought was good at showing how people can run away from their problems and how it doesn't actually ever really help them. By doing this I think a lot of people was able to feel the same as the main character within the movie, by having at the end that all of the characters stop running from their problems and ...
