The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Year: 2005 Genre: Adventure, Family, Fantasy Directed By: Andrew Adamson Starring: Tilda Swinton, Georgie Henley, Willam Moseley About:  Four kids travel through a wardrobe to the land of Narnia and learn of their destiny to free it with the guidance of a mystical lion. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWKj41HZBzM My Review: Thinking about watching this film for the last couple I thought that I would re-watch this for the first time in a couple of years. Knowing this is something in which I watched throughout my teenage years I wasn't sure if this would be as good to me as an adult and as much as I did love it there was some things in which did annoy me. I like how when they are in Narnia it seems to have a lot of mythological creatures such as fawns; unicorns; dwarfs and minotaurs showing how the world is different from their normality which is in England during the second the world wa...

Keeping Mum (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Keeping Mum Year: 2005 Genre: Comedy, Crime Directed By: Niall Johnson Starring: Rowan Atkinson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Maggie Smith About:  A pastor preoccupied with writing the perfect sermon fails to realize that his wife is having an affair, and his children are up to no good. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=75NOYE2-PFY My Review: Looking through some of my DVD's I came across Keeping Mum and realising I hadn't seen it in years thought I would give it a watch. This is a film in which I used to enjoy and would make me laugh so coming across it again I was excited to see if I felt the same towards it years later. I like that this movie starts with the mum and how she is a murderer and tells the audience why she killed someone and how she ended up in an asylum for the insane. By doing this it gave some insight into the character in which the audience would be watching about. By after showing how a pastor from a small village is having problems w...

Nanny McPhee (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film:  Nanny McPhee Year:  2005 Genre:  Comedy, Family, Fantasy Directed By:  Kirk Jones Starring:  Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury About:  A governess uses magic to rein in the behavior of seven ne'er-do-well children in her charge. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wxtZPI5kRo My Review: Having been unwell for the last week I thought I would cheer myself up by watching  Nanny McPhee , this is a film which was a big part of my childhood and never fails to make me happy. I think that by showing how bad the children are at the start of the film is key for this movie but also getting to understand that they are only being bad in order to get their father's attention as they don't get any now that their mother has died. By having  Nanny McPhee  as someone who understands this but helps to teach the children how to be polite, go to bed when they are asked and more some without her intentions she reall...

Film: The Skeleton Key Year: 2005 Genre: Drama, Horror, Mystery Directed By: Iain Softley Starring: Kate Hudson, Peter Sarsgaard, Joy Bryant About:  A hospice nurse working at a spooky New Orleans plantation home finds herself entangled in a mystery involving the house's dark past. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=654uzrc6Lsk My Review: Having not seen The Skeleton Key in years I decided to give it another watch especially as it has been a film stuck in my head that I want to see for a couple of weeks. The film is about a woman who goes to a house in New Orleans and is helping to look after an old man, however when she goes to the attic she starts to notice that maybe something darker is happening within the house. Starting to believe hoodoo she starts to believe that maybe she is in danger but will she be able to escape the house? I like this film and it reminds me of when I first started to really enjoy horror movies. I think this is a good film that ...

Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSA7mAHolAw My Review: Having not seen V for Vendetta for years I could not resist watching this after so long especially after forgetting just how good the movie is and how it is definitely a film in which everyone should see at least once! The film is about a man called V who wants to give England some hope by using what Guy Fawkes was famous for in 1605 in trying to blow up the houses of parliament. For this, he tells the public that  in one years time this will happen which lets the people of England get behind him and show that they are all needing the hope from V! As well as this happening V starts to get revenge on people ...
