Film: A Bugs Life Year: 1998 Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy Directed By: John Lasseter Starring: Kevin Spacey, Dave Foley, Julia Louis-Dreyfus About: A misfit ant, looking for "warriors" to save his colony from greedy grasshoppers, recruits a group of bugs that turn out to be an inept circus troupe. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ljk2YJ53_WI My Review: Going back to the first movie I ever fell in love with however haven't seen in years I decided to put on A Bugs Life which came out in 1998 when I was only 2/3 years old! As a favourite of mine when I was younger I was scared to watch this again in-case it didn't live up to what I had remembered and loved. A Bugs Life is about an ant called Flik who after getting rid of all the food the ants collected for the grasshoppers goes out to try and find some warriors to try and help defeat them. However, when he recruits circus bugs he needs to come up with a new idea to stand up to the grasshopper

The Boss Baby (film review)

Film: The Boss Baby Year: 2017 Genre: Animation, Comedy, Family Directed By: Tom McGrath Starring: Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Jimmy Kimmel About:  A suit-wearing, briefcase-carrying baby pairs up with his 7-year old brother to stop the dastardly plot of the CEO of Puppy Co. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k397HRbTtWI My Review: Having wanted to see this since it was first released in the cinema I couldn't help but to buy the movie on dvd in order to watch it for the first time. The movie is about a baby who is working for Babycorp and is seeing a decline in people wanting babies due to puppies taking over and so comes to try and help get rid of the competition. However, when Puppy Co. says they are bringing out a new designer puppy it is up to both the baby and his older brother to stop them. I found this movie very enjoyable to watch and it made me laugh at times which was great. There was some adult jokes that the children would not understand which I d

Daddy Day Care (film review)

Film: Daddy Day Care Year: 2003 Genre: Comedy, Family Directed By: Steve Carr Starring: Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin, Anjelica Huston About:  Two men get laid off and have to become stay-at-home dads when they can't find jobs. This inspires them to open their own day-care center Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdmbtyEtU8s My Review: Having noticed that Daddy Day Care had been put on Netflix and I had not seen it in years I could not resist but to watch it. The film is about a man who after being fired from work alongside his friend thinks about how there is no affordable day care services so decides to make one with the help of his former colleague. However, when the most expensive day-care center comes after them will they be able to keep their business open? I find this film really entertaining and shows the differences that children have and how life is not easy for the parents either. This does make a character for everyone and you can care about all of th

This movie is about a teenage boy called Marty who goes back to 1955 when his parents were at school and has to try and bring his parents together however when his mother starts catching feelings for him he needs to do everything he can in order to save his future and to get back back to 1985 where he belongs. I love this movie and think it is one of the best time travelling movies which ha

Death In The Stars - Frances Brody (book review)

Book: Death In The Stars Author: Frances Brody Genre: Mystery, Crime, fiction Published By:  Piatkus Published Year: 2017 My Review:  This book is the ninth book in the Kate Shackleton series and also the first book of this series and this author in which I have read. The book is about a famous singer who comes to Kate to help arrange the transport to a lunar eclipse sighting to which she has agreed to go to. However when someone at the party and a good friend of the singer ends up dead and there is two former deaths in the company within the last two years Kate starts to think that more is going on than just coincidence.  I found that this book was too slow for my particular taste and that not much particularly happened in the book which made me zone out at times and rather bored throughout the book. This did however pick up near the ending of the book which did have me reading it a lot faster. It does however have a lot of different characters who end up being suspects f

Monty Python and the Holy Grail (film review)

Film: Monty Python and the Holy Grail Year: 1975 Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy Directed By: Terry Gilliam, Terry Jones Starring: Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Eric Idle About:  King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table embark on a surreal, low-budget search for the Holy Grail, encountering many, very silly obstacles. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6yOIjSF8tmo My Review:  Being a Monty Python fan for years I couldn't resist but watch my favourite thing of Monty Python's and that is Monty Python and the Holy Grail which was released in 1975. Monty Python and the Holy Grail is about King Arthur and his search for the Holy Grail with the search and help of his knights of the round table. This in my opinion is one of the funniest films ever made and one that is a classic for a reason as it is not a forgettable movie. With the knights that say ni, coconuts to make the sound of horse hooves and the black knight are just a few things from this movie wh

Deadpool 2 (film review)

Film: Deadpool 2 Year: 2018 Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy Director: David Leitch Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Morena Baccarin About:  Foul-mouthed mutant mercenary Wade Wilson (AKA. Deadpool), brings together a team of fellow mutant rogues to protect a young boy of supernatural abilities from the brutal, time-traveling mutant, Cable Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D86RtevtfrA My Review: With Deadpool 2 coming out last night I couldn't resist going to see one of the first screenings of the movie. After having been excited about this film coming out for the past year. When Wade Wilson's girlfriend dies he realises that he is meant to look after a child who has been abused at a children's home. However when a man called Cable comes after the child it makes Wade start to team up with other mutants to try and save the child. I loved this film however did find it predictable with some of the jokes as some were the same as the first movie which

Captain America: Civil War (film review)

Film: Captain America: Civil War Year: 2016 Genre: Action, Adventure, Sci-fi Starring: Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr. About:  Political involvement in the Avengers' activities causes a rift between Captain America and Iron Man. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dKrVegVI0Us My Review: Wanting to watch a Marvel movie I couldn't resist but decide to watch Captain America: Civil War which I have not seen since it was in the cinema back in 2016. This is my views on the movie. The film is about when the government want to own the Avengers, Captain America and some of the other Avengers refuse to do so. However, when at a United Nations meeting there is an explosion and Bucky Barnes is accused of causing it Captain America and his friends will do anything to stop Iron Man. This film is action from the very start and this makes me really like the film and be drawn into it almost instantly. Not only this but by causing a drift between two of the

The Kissing Booth (film review)

Film: The Kissing Booth Year: 2018 Genre: Romance, Comedy, Rom-Com Starring: Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi About:  A high school student is forced to confront her secret crush at a kissing booth My Review:  Seeing a new Netflix rom-com I couldn't resist giving this a watch and I couldn't be more happy that I did. This film is about a girl called Elle who has had a crush on her best friends brother since she was six. However when they turn into teenagers and they end up kissing at a kissing booth everything changes. I thought this would only be an average watch when I put this movie on however found myself loving it and couldn't stop smiling throughout it. I thought the teenage situations were rather relate-able and that this film had really good acting from the actors which helped to make this such a good watch. I genuinely can not fault this at all and from finding out that it is based upon a book of the same title have to give it a watch. This film w

A Graveyard Visible- Steve Conoboy (book review)

Book: A Graveyard Visible Author: Steve Conoboy Genre: Young Adult, Horror, Fantasy Published By: Lodestone Books Published Year: 2018 My Review: I got a copy of this book from NetGalley in return for an honest review. Being brought in by the cover I couldn't wait to read this. This book is about a boy called Caleb who when he sees men up at the graveyard near his house starts to become interested in what is happening up there and ends up mixed up in a paranormal horror story he doesn't know how to stop. This book was a great read and I found myself getting chills at points and needing to put it down so I could get back to my normality which I loved about this book. I also thought that this book had enough horror in it which I don't find in many books I have read of this style. I do however feel that there was issues with this book such as not saying who was speaking in chapters which did leave me confused at points about who the story was following. Not only

Mute (film review)

Film: Mute Year: 2018 Genre: Mystery, Sci-fi, Thriller Starring: Alexander Skarsgard, Paul Rudd, Justin Theroux About:  A mute bartender goes up against his city's gangsters in an effort to find out what happened to his missing partner. My Review:  Seeing this come up on my recommended for me on Netflix I decided to see if this would be any good. Liking Alexander Skarsgard as an actor, seeing him in a different role than I usually see him in really intrigued me. The film is about a man called Leo who is a mute and when his girlfriend goes missing tries to find her any way that he can. At the same time the audience is seeing a man who seems to be involved in crime and who is trying to leave the country to go back to America. I found that this film had a slower plot than I would have personally liked and it could have been more in depth with the movie however it was a good watch that I would see again. I also think that this highlights Alexander Skarsgard's acting ab

My Review: Having wanted to see Angry Birds  the movie since I first saw the trailer and never getting around to it I was so happy when Netflix decided to put this as an available title and couldn't resist giving this a watch. The film is about Red who ends up going to anger management classes however when pigs show up on Bird Island Red and his two friends Chuck and Bomb try to find out what is happening. However, as the pigs end up being evil the three friends do everything they can to save their homes. I loved this movie a lot more than I thought I would and found myself laughing at it and finding it really relate-abl

Now he must decide whether or not to come forward when 142 of them file a lawsuit to reveal his identity. My Review: This is a film I have seen many times however never get bored or tired of, so given a nice and relaxing night I decided to give this another watch and share my views on it. This film is about a man who when his sperm is used to father over 500 children and 142 want to find out who he is decides to find out a little about his children without them knowing it. With a law suit also in place for him to reveal who he is while he still wants to be an anonymous donor who will win the law suit and will he ever reveal who he is? This is a film I never get bored of no matter how many times I see it and leaves me smiling and feeli

Goosebumps: One Day At Horrorland - R.L. Stine (book review)

Book: Goosebumps: One Day At Horrorland Author: R.L. Stine Genre: Horror, fiction, children's Published By: Scholastic Published Year: 1994 My Review:  Finishing my university assessments I chose a nice easy read to relax with and therefore chose one of my favourite Goosebumps books; One Day At Horrorland! This book is about the Morris family and their friend Clay who when going to the zoo ends up at Horrorland a theme park which is in the middle of the desert. However when the rides end up too scary and they can't find their parents are they going to be able to escape? This book is one of my favourite Goosebumps books and one that leaves me slightly scared as well as having a lot of adventure and comedy in which you would expect from a Goosebumps book. This is a book which never gets old and over twenty years later is still just as good as it was then. This book is an easy read and one that is perfect for children and for adults who would like a nice easy book t
