The Hidden People - Alison Littlewood (book review)

Book: The Hidden People Author: Alison Littlewood Genre: Horror, Fantasy, Historical Published By: Jo Fletcher Books Published Year: 2016 My Review: Taking part in the OWL'S Readathon I needed a book which met the prompt of "Plant on the Cover" and after putting a poll on Twitter which had the choice of three different books this is the one that came out on top. As a result I ended up with this book and although seeming interested in it from the back of the book I found that this book did not grab me as much as I wish it did. The book is about a man who's cousin dies so he goes to try and find out the truth about her death and upon getting to the village of Halfoak finds that the people are really into superstition and believed his cousin to be a fairy and not of this world. However, when his wife gets there he starts to think that maybe there is some truth in the tales the people were saying. I found that this book was really slow for my personal taste ...

The Vvitch (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: The Vvitch Year: 2015 Genre: Horror, Mystery Directed By: Robert Eggers Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie About:  A family in 1630s New England is torn apart by the forces of witchcraft, black magic and possession. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQXmlf3Sefg My Review: Having heard a lot of good things about this movie I saw that it was on Netflix and thought I would give it a watch, however I ended up disappointed by this movie. The Vvitch is about a family who moves out of England and has their baby stolen by the woods, as tensions grow the family starts to think that maybe it is the daughter who is a witch and the family is slowly being torn apart by black magic. I found that this film was not enjoyable to watch and it made me rather bored from near the beginning. Hoping that it was just a slow movie to get into I continued watching but only the last ten minutes was really all that enjoyable to me. The film had no characters...

V for Vendetta (film review)

Film: V for Vendetta Year: 2005 Genre: Action, Drama, Sci-fi Directed By: James McTeigue Starring: Hugo Weaving, Natalie Portman, Rupert Graves About:  In a future British tyranny, a shadowy freedom fighter, known only by the alias of "V", plots to overthrow it with the help of a young woman. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSA7mAHolAw My Review: Having not seen V for Vendetta for years I could not resist watching this after so long especially after forgetting just how good the movie is and how it is definitely a film in which everyone should see at least once! The film is about a man called V who wants to give England some hope by using what Guy Fawkes was famous for in 1605 in trying to blow up the houses of parliament. For this, he tells the public that  in one years time this will happen which lets the people of England get behind him and show that they are all needing the hope from V! As well as this happening V starts to get revenge on people ...

After sustaining a blow to the head, he awakens to find himself in 14th century England. My Review: Having wanted to watch a film that I saw as a child but hadn't managed to see in ages I saw that Black Knight was on Netflix and thought this was the perfect opportunity to see it again. This is my views on the film. Black Knight is about a man who after falling into a river at his work wakes up in 14th century England not realising that he has done. After a while re realises he is not where he is meant to be and tries to find a way to get himself back home. However, at the same time there is an assassination sent after the king by people who are trying to get the queen in power. I find this film funny and laughed pretty much throughout which I really liked about this f...
