The House With A Clock In Its Walls (film review)

Film: The House With A Clock In It's Walls Year: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Family, Fantasy Directed By: Eli Roth Starring: Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Owen Vaccaro About:  A young orphan named Lewis Barnavelt aids his magical uncle in locating a clock with the power to bring about the end of the world. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQGA42-U0Ro My Review: Having wanted to see this movie since it came out in the cinema I couldn't resist but to buy this and give it a watch. This is a movie in which really surprised me as it was different from how I had expected however made me enjoy it in a way I didn't expect. I found that this film was funny and made me laugh as well had elements of horror which made this a perfect children's horror to me and one that I would be able to watch when looking for something not very scary. I also thought that this film reminded me of some of my other childhood favourite horror films such as The Haunted Mansion with the way

Pokemon: The Power of Us (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Pokemon The Movie: The Power Of Us Year: 2018 Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure Directed By: Tetsuo Yajima Starring: Emily Bauer, Sam Black, Kathryn Cahill About:  Ash meets five residents who come together to save the day when a series of threats endanger the annual Wind Festival and the entire population of their home, Fula City Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PGsP59Io20 My Review: Being a fan of Pokemon and seeing this movie for sale I could not resist but to buy it and give it a watch to see if this movie is as good as the others. I was really happy with this movie and it had me near tears as well as smiling and overall feel really good inside which is something I love that the Pokemon series is able to do. I personally liked how this film showed different types of people from someone who has lost all confidence in themselves but wants to help their brother, someone who seems to have social anxiety, someone who only wants to do right by their family

Isn't It Romantic (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Isn't It Romantic Year: 2019 Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance Directed By: Todd Strauss-Schulson Starring: Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, Adam Devine About:  A young woman disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVYzxm_RqMg My Review: Seeing this movie come up on recently added on Netflix I couldn't resist but to give this a watch especially as I am feeling very much in a Rom-Com movie mood lately. Seeing that this movie also had Rebel Wilson was in it made me want to check this out even more as she makes me laugh and I have enjoyed the movies I have seen her in previously. I found that this was a movie in which I was able to relate to as the main character doesn't believe in love the way that rom-coms are shown and tries to get herself out of it. I loved that the message in the movie in which the watcher discovers in the end is that you should love yourself more than you

Sixteen Candles (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Sixteen Candles Year: 1984 Genre: Comedy, Romance Directed By: John Hughes Starring: Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Justin Henry About:  A girl's "sweet" sixteenth birthday becomes anything but special, as she suffers from every embarrassment possible. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGLtBJupFFM My Review: Having never seen Sixteen Candles before but always having heard of it I thought I would finally check it out to see what it was about. This film did surprise me with how much I did end up enjoying it and I feel knowing nothing about this movie before seeing it was a good way to go in as it all came as a surprise for me. I really liked that this film was based on one girl and followed her all of the way through and showed how she was getting the man in which she had a crush on after everything on her birthday seemed to be going wrong. I thought by showing how her whole family forgot about her birthday made the audience feel sorry on

Cogheart - Peter Bunzl (book review)

Book: Cogheart Author: Peter Bunzl Genre: Fantasy, Steampunk, Children's Published By: Usborne Published Year: 2016 My Review: Having received a copy from Netgalley in return for an honest review I was happy to have been able to give this a read. The book captured me with it's blurb and with it's beautiful cover. Cogheart is about a girl who is told that her father has gone missing and  everyone thinks that he is dead over a machine called Cogheart. Not knowing anything about this but with the police trying to capture her and having killed in the past in order to get their hands on it will Lily be able to get herself to safety and find out the truth about the Cogheart and what happened to her father? I don't usually read steampunk novels so I was excited to read into a genre in which I am not used to. I thought by also having it as an adventure book that this would keep me really engaged with the book and have me unable to put it down. However although thi

Rise of the Planet of the Apes (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Rise of the Planet of the Apes Year: 2011 Genre: Action, Drama, Sci-fi Directed By: Rupert Wyatt Starring: James Franco, Andy Serkis, Freida Pinto About:  A substance designed to help the brain repair itself gives advanced intelligence to a chimpanzee who leads an ape uprising. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=28Z_D9Grh18 My Review: Having owned the trilogy on DVD for a while however never having seen any of them I thought it would be a good idea to start with the first movie. Not knowing if I would like this or not I thought I was worried about this however I really shouldn't have been as it was a lot better than I had expected it to be. This film is a brilliant way of starting a trilogy with finding out how Caesar was born and how he was more intelligent because his mother had the drug in her when he was born so it was transferred over to him. Seeing how Caesar was also with the doctor in which was told initially to kill him and how he became part of
