Black Knight (film review)

Film: Black Knight Year: 2001 Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy Starring: Martin Lawrence, Marsha Thomason, Tom Wilkinson About:  Martin Lawrence plays Jamal, an employee in Medieval World amusement park. After sustaining a blow to the head, he awakens to find himself in 14th century England. My Review: Having wanted to watch a film that I saw as a child but hadn't managed to see in ages I saw that Black Knight was on Netflix and thought this was the perfect opportunity to see it again. This is my views on the film. Black Knight is about a man who after falling into a river at his work wakes up in 14th century England not realising that he has done. After a while re realises he is not where he is meant to be and tries to find a way to get himself back home. However, at the same time there is an assassination sent after the king by people who are trying to get the queen in power. I find this film funny and laughed pretty much throughout which I really liked about this f

Unsane (fiilm review)

Film: Unsane Year: 2018 Genre: Horror, Thriller Starring: Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah About:  A young woman is involuntarily committed to a mental institution, where she is confronted by her greatest fear--but is it real or a product of her delusion? My Review: Having seen the trailer for this on the tv and it grabbing my interest I decided to go to the cinema to see if this film was as good as the trailer had made out for it to be. So here is my views of it while seeing it on the big screen. This film is about a girl who goes to see a counselor to talk about her previous stalker and how she still sees him everywhere, after this while doing some paperwork she accidentally accepts to be admitted into a mental institution where it so happens that her stalker is now working. As she tries to come to terms with him being there she is also trying her hardest to get out so she can get away from him. I thought this film was rather boring in honesty with the introductio

The Limehouse Golem (film review)

Film: The Limehouse Golem Year: 2016 Genre: Horror, Mystery, Thriller Starring: Douglas Booth, Olivia Cooke, Bill Nighy About:  A series of murders has shaken the community to the point where people believe that only a legendary creature from dark times - the mythical so-called Golem - must be responsible. My Review: Having had my eye on this movie for a long time I decided to buy the movie and give it a watch. With an amazing cast of actors as well this film was a must to watch! So without further ado here is my review of The Limehouse Golem . The film is about a man called John Kildare who is trying to find out who the murderer The Limehouse Golem is and is investigating the murders. While investigating he also discovers one of the leads wives is going through a trial and by doing so gets involved with her case to try and free her. I personally really liked this film. I thought it was very well done and kept me guessing throughout about who it was in which was the killer

When Harry Met Sally (film review)

Film: When Harry Met Sally Year: 1989 Genre: Comedy, drama, romance Starring: Billy Crystal, Meg Ryan, Carrie Fisher About:  Harry and Sally have known each other for years, and are very good friends, but they fear sex would ruin the friendship. My Review: Having never seen When Harry Met Sally before even though it is one of the most popular rom-com movies around I decided I would check it out and finally see if it is as good as everyone was making it out to be. The film is about two people named Harry and Sally who end up going to New York together and then go their separate ways, however after many years they run into each other and start to become friends. As they do and both see start seeing other people they realise that they both love each other but refuse to tell each other. I thought this film was good in the way that it had between scenes old couples saying how they had found their love at first sight and sharing their stories, this is something that I found rath

The Revenant (film review)

Film: The Revenant Year: 2015 Genre: Action, Adventure, History Starring: Leonardo Dicaprio, Tom Hardy, Will Poulter About:  A frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. My Review:  Having remembered that Leonardo won an Oscar for The Revenant and never having seen it I decided to see if it was as good as it came across back in 2015. This is my thoughts on the movie. The Revenant follows a man who after getting attacked by a bear and almost loses his life and losing his son to one of the people who were meant to look after him, tracks down the hunting party in which left him for dead in order to get revenge for his son. Through this you see the main character go through healing and really bad luck in order to try and find his son's killer. First off, I can understand why Leonardo won an Oscar for this movie the portrayal of his character is amazingly done a

Kung Fu Panda 2 (film review)

Film: Kung Fu Panda 2 Year: 2011 Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure Starring: Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan About:  Po and his friends fight to stop a peacock villain from conquering China with a deadly new weapon, but first the Dragon Warrior must come to terms with his past. My Review: Having recently watched Kung Fu Panda and realising that the second one is on Netflix I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to review this one as well! Having high hopes because of the first one this is what I thought of the follow up movie. Kung Fu Panda 2 again follows Po however he has accepted that he is the Dragon Warrior and has made friends with the furious five which he looked up to and who at first didn't accept him as the Dragon Warrior. However, when looking after a village he has a a flashback to when he is a child but doesn't understand what it is about. Throughout you start to wonder about Po's past and what has caused the flashbacks to begin an

Kung Fu Panda (film review)

Film: Kung Fu Panda Year: 2008 Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure Starring: Jack Black, Ian McShane, Angelina Jolie About:  The Dragon Warrior has to clash against the savage Tai Lung as China's fate hangs in the balance: However, the Dragon Warrior mantle is supposedly mistaken to be bestowed upon an obese panda who is a tyro in martial arts My Review: Loving animated films and finding that they always make me happy and laugh I decided to watch Kung Fu Panda for the first time in years. This is my thoughts on the movie! The film follows a panda called Po who dreams of being a Kung Fu master till one day he becomes the Dragon Warrior a warrior in which is meant to be the strongest and most powerful. When Po an obese panda becomes him however you see the struggle of becoming who he is meant to be when he doesn't know anything at all about Kung Fu. I personally loved this film, it had the right amount of humour for the film as well as action. Making me laugh a lot t

Tomb Raider (film review)

Film: Tomb Raider Year: 2018 Genre: Action, Adventure Starring:  Alicia Vikander, Dominic West, Walton Goggins About:  Lara Croft, the fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, must push herself beyond her limits when she finds herself on the island where her father disappeared. My Review:  Hearing that a new Tomb Raider was coming out rather worried me, as a lover of the games and a reboot as well this could be done really well or like a lot of games turned movies be not the film we as fans are wanting. As a result I went to the cinema to see what the reboot would be like. The movie follows Lara Croft who after seven years of her fathers disappearance starts to look into the puzzle which her father had left behind for her. As a result she ends up going to an island to start looking for the answers about her father and find out what he was really up to when he left her. While doing this Lara finds out about the truth about her first tomb. At the beginning of T

The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner - Stephenie Meyer (book review)

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner is a novella which is comes off of the book Eclipse which is part of the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. Having not read this book in a while I decided to pick this up and found I loved it as much as I did the very first time I read this when it first came out back in 2010. This novella is about a girl called Bree Tanner who has been created by Victoria and been living with Riley as well as other new vampires who are being raised to fight the Cullens. However, they are unaware of this. As Bree starts to question what Riley is telling her and the other vampires she is being raised with she finds herself making friends with Diego which is someone who is very close to Riley while also finding herself safety with a boy named Fred who has his own special ability. As a fan of the Twilight saga I find this book a really easy read and a story which while it is separate in ways is a very nicely linked with the Eclipse book. I do like how when you are

Ghost In The Shell (film review)

Film: Ghost In The Shell Year: 2017 Genre: Action, Crime, Drama, Sci-fi Starring:   Scarlett Johansson, Pilou Asbæk, Takeshi Kitano About:  In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals My Review:  Having been wanting to watch Ghost In The Shell since it first came out in the cinema I was glad to be able to get my hands on the DVD and finally give this a watch and decided to share my views on it. This film follows Major who is a machine with a human mind who is used to be a weapon. However, when she comes across a glitch in a robot she starts to see things that aren't there and wondering why this is happening. As this happens she starts to discover her past and how she was not the first machine to have a human mind! I found this film really interesting to watch, having not read the comic books before by Shirow Masamune.

Cold Blood - Andy McNab (book review)

Cold Blood by Andy McNab is the eighteenth book in the Nick Stone series. As this was the first novel by Andy McNab I have read and therefore the first in the Nick Stone series, I was glad that this book you were able to read as a stand alone and didn't need the others prior to knowing what was happening in this novel. Cold Blood is about a group of amputees who were part of the army making their way to the North Pole. Throughout this book you see how they get the money for the trip to the pole and the troubles that comes along with this, going forward you also see how dangerous being on the ice are because of different countries wanting the oil that comes from the North Pole.  As things get more dangerous for the group other factors come into play which makes this book get more interesting and keeps the reading wanting more. This is a good fiction book which chapters are really small so it's easy for reading on the go and for those who aren't fast readers and lose i

Touchy, Feely, Squeezy: Musings of a Masseuse - Mandy Urena (book review)

Touchy, Feely, Squeezy: Musings of a Masseuse by Mandy Urena is not my usual type of book to read as a non-fiction book. However, this book really appealed to me as someone who loves to go to a masseuse myself. This book is about Mandy and how she started to become a masseuse as well as all of the adventures she has had due to being a massage therapist. Also going into loads of different styles of massage and how she ended up massaging rockstars, those with cancer and so much more. This is a great non-fiction which did make me laugh at times throughout the novel and left me feeling happy, however there is parts which is more heartfelt and has a great pace to the book. I loved also how at the start of every chapter there was quotes from various people which was a really good way to get into the chapter. Also with the chapters all having names such as: What do you do if a guy gets a woody? (and other unusual questions), The penis monologues, Energy massage and the uninvited polterg
