My Review:
Wanting a horror movie to watch, my mum decided to choose the film The Darkness. Knowing nothing about the film prior to seeing it and having not seen it before I was rather excited to see this.

The Darkness is about a family who goes to the Grand Canyon and when their son comes across some stones decides to take them home with him. However the stones end up having a much darker purpose than they intended and could end up killing or breaking the family apart.

I thought that this film was brilliant and I really enjoyed how the movie showed right away how the son found the stones in which ends up making all of the problems for the family after they get hom…

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rqIJcY9hMc

My Review:
Having seen the first two in the Purge series and it coming ever closer to Halloween I thought that it would be good to watch The Purge: Election Year.

I thought that this film was good as it showed at the very beginning why the Senator wanted to get rid of the Purge and that on the lead up the annual Purge made it legal for everyone to become a target including the government and the New Founding Fathers which created the annual Purge. I liked that this film although not being as scary as the first two movies showed a story and how some people are still trying to help those even throug…

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctM8zpe3BHo

My Review:
Seeing The Titan on Netflix I thought that I would check it out as it was a sci-fi/thriller and new to 2018. This film was how I expected it to be and I was rather glad to have watched it.

The Titan is about a group of people who go through experiments in order to lower their oxygen levels and get them ready to go to the planet Titan in order to see if there is a chance that the human race could live outside of Earth. However the experiment is not what it seems.

I thought that this film was rather interesting and showed how to enhance human evolution in order to better the human race but also showed the side effects and how dangerous that it can be. By also keeping the families of the p…

My Review:
With it coming up to Halloween I decided to watch a more Halloween movie which wasn't a horror film and as a result ended up watching A Witches Ball which can be found on Netflix.

The film is about a girl who gets to be valedictorian so gets her crystal ball prior to the the ceremony of the witches. However, when it gets broken into pieces the girl goes and tries to make the ball one before the ceremony with the help of her pet rat.

I thought that this film was funny at parts and did make me enjoy the film a lot more than I expected I would. I liked how it added some adventure to the film with the map and having to find people tha…

I Kill Giants (film review) *contains spoilers*

Starring: Madison Wolfe, Zoe Saldana, Imogen Poots
About: Barbara Thorson struggles through life by escaping into a fantasy life of magic and monsters.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZ0QKOR5Kgc

My Review:
Letting my mum choose the film in which we watch she decided to have a look through Netflix and came across I Kill Giants and thought that this would be good for us to watch.

The film is about a girl called Barbara who is trying to save her town from giants in which cause all the pain and death within the town and how she battles them with the help of a new girl who has just come to the town.

I thought that this film had brilliant symbolism within this with having the giants really as Barbara's demons and how she has to face them, with the bag also holding the light showing the little hope in which she had left it highlighted how little Barbara really was feeling okay with life. The endi…

My Review:
Having wanted to see this movie in the cinema however never getting around to it I managed to see it through the online website Rakuten TV.

I thought that this film was funny throughout and was a great mystery film which is all made into a game for the group of friends, with this film also bringing in a creepy neighbour in which the audience doesn't trust was a good addition. I thought that this film had a couple of really good twists within it and made me want to see more of what was going to happen next as well as shocked with some of the things that ended up happening …

My Review:
Having never seen this movie and having owned it for a couple of months I decided to give it a watch and I am so glad I did as this film was better than I expected it to be.

Baby Driver is about a man called Baby who is working for a crime lord to pay him back for something in the past however when all of the money is paid up and he thinks that he is finally free he gets pulled into one last job that he does not want to do.

I thought that this film was really good in showing why he had his headphones in all of the time and how he was still able to know what everyone was saying and his passion for music. I thought by having him live with someone who had to do sign lan…

Having not seen Tenacious D in The Pick Of Destiny for years I couldn't resist giving this a watch and I completely forgot just how good this movie was and how much it did make me laugh.

The film is about JB who moves to Hollywood to try and meet the other half of what would be later called Tenacious D and how they came to be, when trying to win an open mic night however they realise that they need some new material and go after the pick of destiny which is held in the Rock and Roll museum.

Having loved this movie since I first ever saw it when it was released back in 2006 I was really craving to watch it as I hadn't in a while and found myself loving it as much as I had done before.

SPF-18 (film review)

Film: SPF-18
Year: 2017
Genre: Romance
Directed By: Alex Israel
Starring: Carson Meyer, Noah Centineo, Bianca A. Santos
About: 18-year-old Penny Cooper spent years pining for Johnny Sanders Jr., but when a mysterious musician shows up on the beach, Penny is torn.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wfx2EWxqAkI

My Review:
Wanting to see something I hadn't before I decided to watch SPF-18 which did unfortunately disappoint me.

The movie is about a girl who spends her time always recording everything around her and when her, her boyfriend and her cousin go to Malibu to house sit comes across a musician on the beach and create a friendship which will last forever.

I thought that this film had a good way of showing how sometimes in music it is hard to do what you really want to due to record labels having artistic control over the music. With this also showing how sometimes it is good to show the world the other side of you in which people are not used to and the side of yourself in whic…

Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fcb68kAOvt4

My Review:
Having not seen the newest Saw movie I was surprised to see that it was on Netflix, however this just made me have to see it especially on the lead up to Halloween. I am so glad that I was not disappointed with this movie as I was worried with the amount of Saw movies that this one would be the same and get boring rather quickly.

I thought that this film was rather clever and kept Jigsaw to the same formula in which the audience is used to with the Saw franchise. However, when the murders and bodies start happening ten years after John has died is he …

My Review:
Having grown up with The Sixth Sense and it being one of the first ghost movies I had seen which scared me it did become a favourite of mine, however after not having seen it in a couple of years I gave it a watch to see if it still had the same effect on me.

The Sixth Sense is about a little boy named Cole who can communicate with the dead and starts to get help off of a child psychologist who is going through a rough time at home. With Cole wanting help on no longer being afraid of the ghosts in which he is seeing will the psychologist Malcolm be able to help Cole and get everything back on track with his wife?

I find that this film has incredible acting and no matter how many times …

About: A group of young adults navigate love and relationships in New York City.
Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RrDI4-BSovs

Wanting something for easy watching I decided to look through Netflix and came across How To Be Single which looked interesting and like it would be something which you wouldn't need a lot of effort to watch.

The film is about a girl who when she leaves her boyfriend to go on a break to discover who she really is while also discovering that she doesn't need love to be who she really is and sometimes being alone is better Alongside this the watcher meets her sister who is a workaholic but decides to have a baby and after meeting a man keeps pushing him away from her.

I thought that How To Be Single was different to most of the romance style movies as it doesn't focus on getting with someone and …

My Review:
Taking a look at films in which Robin Williams was in and seeing that I had not seen this one before or heard of it I decided to give it a watch while knowing he would only be a small part and I am so glad I did as I did learn a little more about the civil rights movement in America with the black and white people and how far they have really come.
