She's The Man (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: She's The Man Year: 2006 Genre: Comedy, Romance, Sport Directed By: Andy Fickman Starring: Amanda Bynes, Laura Ramsey, Channing Tatum About:  When her brother decides to ditch for a couple weeks, Viola heads over to his elite boarding school, disguised as him, and proceeds to fall for his school's star soccer player, and soon learns she's not the only one with romantic troubles Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jf67WlthWXk My Review: Having spent a lot of my teenage years watching She's The Man I thought I would give it a watch as I hadn't seen it in a while and loved this film all over again. I love how this film although being about football and being something I am not interested in brings it to an enjoyable place for me as well as having the comedy and romance side to keep me fully entertained. Having the film show how the girls team was cut from Viola's school and showing how she just wanted to play and would have played on the b...

Little Italy (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Little Italy Year: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Romance Directed By: Donald Petrie Starring: Hayden Christensen, Emma Roberts, Danny Aiello About:  A young couple must navigate a blossoming romance, amidst a war between their families' competing pizza restaurants. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z8lDreq9le4 My Review: Wanting to watch a rom-com and having this on my Watch List on Netflix I couldn't resist but give this film a chance and see what I thought. Having liked Emma Roberts in everything I had seen her in previously as well I was excited to see if this was another film of hers in which I would enjoy. This film surprised me however I ended up enjoying this more than I expected. I liked that this film had a Romeo and Juliet vibe with the families not liking each other however the children both being in love with each other and feeling that their families were the reason in which they couldn't be together. I also thought it was clever having the gr...

Isn't It Romantic (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Isn't It Romantic Year: 2019 Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance Directed By: Todd Strauss-Schulson Starring: Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, Adam Devine About:  A young woman disenchanted with love mysteriously finds herself trapped inside a romantic comedy. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVYzxm_RqMg My Review: Seeing this movie come up on recently added on Netflix I couldn't resist but to give this a watch especially as I am feeling very much in a Rom-Com movie mood lately. Seeing that this movie also had Rebel Wilson was in it made me want to check this out even more as she makes me laugh and I have enjoyed the movies I have seen her in previously. I found that this was a movie in which I was able to relate to as the main character doesn't believe in love the way that rom-coms are shown and tries to get herself out of it. I loved that the message in the movie in which the watcher discovers in the end is that you should love yourself more than you...

Sixteen Candles (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Sixteen Candles Year: 1984 Genre: Comedy, Romance Directed By: John Hughes Starring: Molly Ringwald, Anthony Michael Hall, Justin Henry About:  A girl's "sweet" sixteenth birthday becomes anything but special, as she suffers from every embarrassment possible. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HGLtBJupFFM My Review: Having never seen Sixteen Candles before but always having heard of it I thought I would finally check it out to see what it was about. This film did surprise me with how much I did end up enjoying it and I feel knowing nothing about this movie before seeing it was a good way to go in as it all came as a surprise for me. I really liked that this film was based on one girl and followed her all of the way through and showed how she was getting the man in which she had a crush on after everything on her birthday seemed to be going wrong. I thought by showing how her whole family forgot about her birthday made the audience feel sorry on ...

Set It Up (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Set It Up Year: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Romance, Rom-Com Directed By: Claire Scanlon Starring: Zoey Deutch, Glen Powell, Lucy Liu About:  Two corporate executive assistants hatch a plan to match-make their two bosses. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-eRc9PF3TU My Review: Feeling like something that would be very easy watching and more of a romance movie I was happy when Set It Up appeared on my Netflix and thought that this would be perfect. This really happily surprised me and I am so happy this is the movie I chose. I thought by having the two assistants both overworked and realising something had to be done in order to try and give them some time to have some social life was something that really helped to show how the two people needed a break and so teamed up together for their bosses. By keeping this only between them and setting up situations to bring the bosses together such as; getting stuck in an elevator together and kiss cam at a baseball...

Nuestros Amantes (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Nuestros Amantes Year: 2016 Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance Directed By: Miguel Angel Lamata Starring: Eduardo Noriega, Michelle Jenner, Fele Martinez About:  One man, one woman, one rule: not fall in love Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSaeOL7nc2Q My Review: Having had this on my to watch list on Netflix for a while I thought it was time to give this a watch. Knowing that this had subtitles as well did delay me for a while on watching it due to not being a huge fan of subtitled movies. This was also called Our Lovers, on Netflix for those who look for it. The movie is about a girl who approaches a man in a bar and they start speaking and decide to play a game like when they were younger and there is only rules of not getting to know each other personally and that there is to be no names between them and no phone numbers or internet to know more about each other. While also not allowing to fall in love with each other. I found that this film was r...

What's Your Number (film review)

Film: What's Your Number Year: 2011 Genre: Romance, Comedy, Rom-Com Directed By: Mark Mylod Starring: Anna Faris, Chris Evans, Ari Graynor About:  A woman looks back at the past nineteen men she's had relationships with in her life and wonders if one of them might be her one true love. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgkxGrsX-A4 My Review: Having not seen this in years and it constantly coming to my mind I couldn't resist but watch one of my favourite romantic comedies of all time! The film is about a woman who after seeing in a magazine that if you sleep with over twenty people then you are doomed to never get married decides to take a look at her ex-boyfriends and see if they are the one for her after just hitting the number twenty. While doing so she asks for help from her next door neighbour who helps her to track them down while also catching feelings for each other. This film is one of my favourite rom-com's due to it being about how woman...

The Kissing Booth (film review)

Film: The Kissing Booth Year: 2018 Genre: Romance, Comedy, Rom-Com Starring: Joey King, Joel Courtney, Jacob Elordi About:  A high school student is forced to confront her secret crush at a kissing booth My Review:  Seeing a new Netflix rom-com I couldn't resist giving this a watch and I couldn't be more happy that I did. This film is about a girl called Elle who has had a crush on her best friends brother since she was six. However when they turn into teenagers and they end up kissing at a kissing booth everything changes. I thought this would only be an average watch when I put this movie on however found myself loving it and couldn't stop smiling throughout it. I thought the teenage situations were rather relate-able and that this film had really good acting from the actors which helped to make this such a good watch. I genuinely can not fault this at all and from finding out that it is based upon a book of the same title have to give it a watch. This film w...

Love, Simon (film review)

Film:  Love, Simon Year: 2018 Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance Starring: Nick Robinson, Jennifer Garner, Josh Duhamel About:  Simon Spier keeps a huge secret from his family, his friends, and all of his classmates: he's gay. When that secret is threatened, Simon must face everyone and come to terms with his identity. My Review:  Seeing a film that is a rom-com which has LGBT is rare to come across so when this film came out I couldn't stop myself from seeing it in the cinema, and hoping that this was going to be as good as it looked in the trailers. Love, Simon is about a gay child called Simon who is in his final year of high school and has the secret of being gay which noone knows about, when another child in his school who is also gay comes out however behind an alias Simon decides to message him with his own. As they get closer through means of e-mail he gets noticed by someone in his class who starts to blackmail him about revealing his secret and he does eve...
