The Haunted Mansion (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: The Haunted Mansion Year: 2003 Genre: Comedy, Family, Fantasy Directed By: Rob Minkoff Starring: Eddie Murphy, Marsha Thomason, Jennifer Tilly About:  A realtor and his wife and children are summoned to a mansion, which they soon discover is haunted, and while they attempt to escape, he learns an important lesson about the family he has neglected. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U32Law7K-b8 My Review: Having not seen The Haunted Mansion in a while and been badly wanting to watch it for months I decided to watch this with my mum. As a favourite of mine when I was younger and still really enjoying it as an adult. This film makes me laugh as well as keeps me entertained throughout. I love that this film is about a an who is stuck as a ghost due to killing himself and not really understanding the truth about how the love of his life died. I think by having the woman in the film look like her which is why she is brought to the mansion rather sweet and ...

Brother Bear (film review) *contains spoilers*

Film: Brother Bear Year: 2003 Genre: Animation, Adventure, Comedy Directed By: Aaron Blaise, Robert Walker Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Jeremy Suarez, Rick Moranis About:  When a young Inuit hunter needlessly kills a bear, he is magically changed into a bear himself as punishment with a talkative cub being his only guide to changing back Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B80VKbxZs6E My Review: Having not seen this movie in years but only remembering good things about it I couldn't resist but to give this a watch and it really doesn't disappoint at all! While going through the death of his brother the main character gets turned into a bear which the spirits choose for him to help guide him into the man he is meant to be. This is great as it helps him to relate to the bears in which he hates due to his brothers death and learn a lot about himself as well as trying to help those around him. By keeping throughout the story how his only brother left hunting him ...

Icefire - Chris D'Lacey (book review)

Book: Icefire Author: Chris D'Lacey Genre: Fantasy, Young Adult, Fiction Published By: Orchard Books Published Year: 2003 Having liked the first book in The Last Dragon Chronicles I thought I would read the second book in the series which is Icefire . This is a book in which is different to most dragon typed books and one that is still very enjoyable to read. I liked how the book started off where the last book did which led to the reader not being confused or wondering what has been happening since the first book ended. Having also kept the same characters however introducing new ones throughout the novel did make it exciting and keeping some of the mystery till near the end keeps the reader wanting to know more throughout. I did think by having David in this book able to see the dragons move and interact rather than just as statues made of clay was a brilliant way of letting the reader see into the world of dragons more and understand the personalities of some of the dr...

Daddy Day Care (film review)

Film: Daddy Day Care Year: 2003 Genre: Comedy, Family Directed By: Steve Carr Starring: Eddie Murphy, Jeff Garlin, Anjelica Huston About:  Two men get laid off and have to become stay-at-home dads when they can't find jobs. This inspires them to open their own day-care center Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdmbtyEtU8s My Review: Having noticed that Daddy Day Care had been put on Netflix and I had not seen it in years I could not resist but to watch it. The film is about a man who after being fired from work alongside his friend thinks about how there is no affordable day care services so decides to make one with the help of his former colleague. However, when the most expensive day-care center comes after them will they be able to keep their business open? I find this film really entertaining and shows the differences that children have and how life is not easy for the parents either. This does make a character for everyone and you can care about all ...
