My Review:
Having had my eye on this film for a while I was la when Netflix brought it on the service and I could finally see this especially with it having Dwayne Johnson and Vince Vaughn in it. Being also asked to review this film I thought it would be a good opportunity to do both of these at the same time. This is a film I never noticed was a biography movie before seeing it and I thought was good for showing more about the wrestler Paige.
I enjoyed how this film showed how a girl from England first got into wrestling and how it was her dream to be in the WWE and got given the opportunity. By also showing how she goes through the training and how hard it was for her and even wanting to quit was something I thought was good to watch as it showed how people don't just get things handed to them and that things are hard but you have to keep reaching for what you want and not give up if you are hoping to land your dream job. Not only this but by having the ending show how on her debut match she was nervous and still ended up becoming the youngest person to ever get the Diva's Champion title was really empowering to see. Not only this but having the brother who didn't make it coach children and even have a blind child as someone who he was coaching in which ended up being a professional wrestler was really cool and showed everyone is able to do anything if they try enough and just because there is obstacles in the way doesn't mean that you should give up. I also really liked that Dwayne Johnson was in this as when I was younger The Rock was my favourite wrestler so seeing him in this really made the film more real for me personally. Finally, I thought that at the end showing what happened to the characters after and little videos of the real family in the credits was rather cool and it was nice to see what really happened with them after.
However, as someone who doesn't watch wrestling since a child and not really being interested in it any more I did find that at times I was getting a little bored and didn't really connect with the movie as I hoped to do. Overall, I did think that this was a good film and I would recommend it to those who like WWE and want to know more about the wrestler who is Paige.
My Rating: 4/5
