Dog Training- Pet Friendly: Understanding and Caring For Your Pet - Julia Barnes (book review)

Book: Dog Training- Pet Friendly: Understanding and Caring for your Pet
Author: Julia Barnes
Genre: Non-Fiction
Published By: Magnet & Steel USA Inc.
Published Year: 2011

My Review:
Getting a new puppy soon I thought it would be good for me to take a look at a dog training book just to remind myself of some training techniques as I haven't had to train a dog for years.

This book is very easy reading and does go over things in which people already will know wither they have a dog or not as well as going over how to do certain tricks such as: Sit, Lie Down, Wait and more. By having a step-by-step way of doing this it helps new trainers to be able to do these tricks easily and effectively. This book also did have some dog sports in which I was not aware of and am interested in so I am happy that it focuses not only on show dogs and dog dancing but also other sports such as Flyball. By also having an index at the start of the book so that people can get to the section in which they are looking for easily I think that this is a good thing and will help everyone from really basic training commands to just knowing if this is the book that is right for them. Finally, I do think that the pictures in which is throughout this book are really nice and actually help the reader to see how the trick is performed or what the sport is as well as some training techniques.

Overall, I would recommend this book to those who are wanting to train a young dog and those who are looking for a book which is easy to follow.

My Rating: 4/5

When she meets Kyla, a fellow loner, they become close friends until Riley learns that Kyla is obsessed with her father. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4F3Sn-Xzzo My Review: Wanting a style of film I don't usually watch but do enjoy I decided to watch the stalker movie that is My Teacher, My Obsession  which is based on an English teacher who starts at a new school. However, when one of the students gets obsessed with him she will do anything to be with him including secluding him from everyone else. I liked the foreshadowing at the beginning of the movie which matched up to the ending very well and shows how throughout the movie that this was coming up. I also liked how the film showed how...

Broken Homes- Ben Aaronovitch (book review) *contains spoilers*

Book: Broken Homes Author: Ben Aaronovitch Genre: Crime, Fantasy, Mystery Published By: Gollancz Published Year: 2013 My Review: With my work colleague letting me borrow the next book in the Peter Grant series, I was hoping that this book would be as good as the previous book which had me wondering what was going to happen next and if they would discover where the dark wizard was hiding. Not only this, but with the characters moving to a building they felt had a magical connection, I was wondering how this would effect not only the people performing good magic but the ones who would want it for darkness. Broken Homes did surprise me with the ending however it did rather bore me throughout which did disappoint me. I liked that Broken Homes showed that it wasn't only people who could be magical but that it could also be buildings which demonstrated how magic was everywhere and could build in certain parts of the city. With this being something that I hadn't thought of...

Circle (film review)

Film: Circle Year: 2015 Genre: Drama, Horror, Mystery Directed By: Aaron Hann, Mario Miscione Starring: Allegra Masters, Aimee McKay, Ashley Key About:  Held captive and faced with their imminent executions, fifty strangers are forced to choose the one person among them who deserves to live. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JAlpm2oRzy8 My Review: Having not watched this movie in a while and wanting to watch it all day, I caved and put this on through Netflix. Personally, I like horror movies that have a psychological twist such as this film about right and wrong. I have seen this film before and I wouldn't say that it is amazing but it is a good watch.  I liked how Circle  had a lot of different characters and that the viewer got to see the movie from everyone's perspective not just one or two characters while also leaving the questions "why are they there?" and "what is the purpose of the circle?" which left me hoping for more answers as the film w...
