The Fault In Our Stars - John Green (book review)

Book: The Fault In Our Stars
Author: John Green
Genre: Young Adult Fiction
Published By: Penguin
Published year: 2012

My Review:
Having seen the film before and always told to read the book I caved and decided to read it and I was not disappointed. Having been unable to put this book down since I started I managed to read this book in under 7 hours!

The Fault In Our Stars is about a girl called Hazel who has cancer however when she meets a boy at a cancer support group called Augustus she falls in love, while struggling with her cancer and worrying about him becoming too close to her.

I loved this book and it made me laugh at times and get a lump in my throat as well as sad. This book is a great romance with the twist of cancer between two teenagers who fall in love even though they know their time together is limiting however does not stop them from doing as much as they can. I feel that I have maybe seen the film too many times however as I always knew what was happening next as the film doesn't really change anything about the book at all. However, as the first of John Green's books that I have read I know that this is the first of many!

Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k4F3Sn-Xzzo My Review: Wanting a style of film I don't usually watch but do enjoy I decided to watch the stalker movie that is My Teacher, My Obsession  which is based on an English teacher who starts at a new school. However, when one of the students gets obsessed with him she will do anything to be with him including secluding him from everyone else. I liked the foreshadowing at the beginning of the movie which matched up to the ending very well and shows how throughout the movie that this was coming up. I also liked how the film showed how...

Primer (film review)

Film: Primer Year: 2004 Genre: Drama, Sci-fi, Thriller Directed By: Shane Carruth Starring: Shane Carruth, David Sullivan, Casey Gooden About:  Four friends/fledgling entrepreneurs, knowing that there's something bigger and more innovative than the different error-checking devices they've built, wrestle over their new invention. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nj5MMURCm8 My Review: Having been requested to watch Primer for my blog I gave it a watch and after seeing what the film was about I was rather interested in this movie. However, felt that this film did not meet my expectations at all. The film is about two men who are friends and make a machine which seems a little like Schrodinger's cat and will the person survive within the box until it is opened? However, as it leads to time travel the men's relationship becomes strained. I thought that this film had a brilliant premise and wondered what would happen within the experiment. As it was ...

Power About:  After inventing a drug that induces time-compressed virtual realities, young Ren grapples with partner Sam over how to use their powerful creation. Trailer:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qav2Z0TgYMA My Review: Seeing a film on Netflix that didn't sound familiar but was also sci-fi I had to give Otherlife a watch and this did surprise me however didn't leave me as satisfied as I hoped that it would. Otherlife is about a drug which creates a virtual reality however seems to be like real memories and a days worth of memories can be done very quickly. While trying to get funding Ren by accident ends up killing someone due to a glitch in the programme. As a result of this she gets put in an isolation in her own mind for a year due to the government wanting to use it on prisoners which is only an hour in the real world. ...
