My Review:
With having wanted to see this film since it was in the cinema I picked up the DVD and thought I would give this a watch. I was aware this was a remake of the 1990 film starring Kiefer Sutherland however having not seen that one I had nothing to compare this version to so without further ado here is my review.
Flatliners is about a group of five medical students who decide to die in order to see what it is people see when they die and if this is an afterlife and what parts of your brain goes off when it does. As they do this they start to feel happier and start to remember and do things easier that is until their demons start to come after them in the real world and want to kill them.
I thought that this film had a really cool premise to it however as the film started showing that their nightmares were haunting them I was expecting to see more more jump scares which is where this film fell short in my opinion. I did however like that flatlining the different characters did make them all react differently showing that not everyone when they have a near death experience goes through the same things. With one character also not flatlining you could see how it was effecting those around him and how he had the clearest head about how to possibly get rid of the nightmares when he found out what the other characters were going through. I feel like this film had a lot more to give and didn't give it everything it had however it was a good film.
I found this film good however not was lacking in other ways but I would recommend this film to those who would like a film about the afterlife and those who like sci-fi. Not only this but I would recommend this film to those who would like a horror film but not one that is particularly scary.

I've seen both the original and this one. Where the original was all about emotions, feelings and deeper connection between the characters, this one missed the mark. The effects are very good but I didn't feel like any of the characters learned anything from their behavior in this one. I was let down.
